Power / Wiring / Retrofit

Installation and retrofit requirements

Transformer and wiring

Connect with standard two-conductor landscape cable. Fixture input is 10.5–16 VAC; calculate transformer loading at 20VA per spotlight. No separate control cable is required.

Shared runs

Casa Color and compatible conventional low-voltage fixtures can operate on the same run and transformer. Individual app control applies to Casambi-enabled fixtures.

Retrofit installations

Add fixtures to existing circuits after verifying spare transformer VA, cable loading, and voltage at each fixture. Commission and test the mesh at the installed fixture locations.

Casambi / Fixture Control & Commissioning

Addressing, scenes, and scheduled control

Set color and output per fixture, group luminaires by lighting zone, and commission saved scenes for normal operation, events, or seasonal programming.

Individual addressing

Set color and intensity per spotlight. Assign fixture names by location and group luminaires by lighting zone or control function.

Animation programming

Sequence saved scenes with defined fade and hold times. Set transitions and repeat behavior for color effects across selected luminaires.

Schedules and astronomical timing

Trigger scenes and animations by time, day, or date. Use network location settings for sunrise/sunset schedules.

Stored scenes

Save color and intensity values for repeatable landscape, architectural, event, and branded lighting scenes.

Photo and plan controls

Assign fixture controls to a site photograph or plan in Casambi Gallery. Use separate views for distinct lighting zones.

Local control and commissioning

Commission and operate from the Casambi app on iOS or Android within Bluetooth range. Local operation does not require Wi-Fi or a gateway.

AV integration and control interfaces

Add compatible Casambi switches and sensors as required. Remote access requires a compatible gateway and internet connection. Confirm gateway/interface requirements and supported control functions during AV system design. Controls and gateway hardware are sold separately.

Casa Color / Setup & Support

Casambi commissioning resources

Network setup, device identification, grouping, scenes, schedules, troubleshooting, and project handoff documentation.

Installer Resource Center

Request an IES file for the specified optic and fixture configuration. Submit one variation per request. Standard turnaround: 3–5 business days.

Applications

Trees, palms, planting beds, façades, and architectural accents; hospitality, event, and color-branding projects.

Construction / Service

6061-T6 aluminum, 316 stainless hardware, Omega Black finish, and surge protection. Field-replaceable control and RGBW LED modules.

Control Power

Coordinate transformer switching with Casambi schedules and startup settings. Fixtures require power for app access and scheduled operation.

CASA COLOR SPOTLIGHT / CIRCUIT PLANNING

Transformer & Run Calculator

Calculate transformer loading and fixture voltage for new Casa Color Spotlight runs. Based on 20VA per fixture.

80% load design limit10.5–16VAC at fixtureTwo-conductor copper cable

Calculator loading. JavaScript must be enabled and the calculator script must be installed.

Planning estimate. The 80% limit is Garden Light LED’s design policy. This tool does not certify NEC compliance. Verify fixture voltage and COM current under full load with true-RMS instruments; follow the equipment’s current markings, listing, instructions and locally adopted NEC.

Calculation basis & installation requirements

Uses a constant-20VA scalar load model with iterative current and voltage calculation. Cable, contact and fixture-lead losses are included in estimated transformer VA. Actual LED power factor, harmonics, inrush, transformer regulation and line-voltage variation are not characterized. Results are estimates, not a guaranteed minimum voltage.

Fixed planning allowances include 5mΩ per contact and 0.065Ω per fixture-lead loop. Each run includes two transformer contacts; each fixture includes two tap contacts. These are estimates, not connector specifications. Added inline splice pairs are modeled at full run current.

14/12/10AWG resistance uses Southwire landscape cable reference data: 3.391 / 2.137 / 1.339Ω per 1,000ft per conductor. 8AWG uses a 0.810Ω reference copper value from a different cable construction. Values are at 75°C for conservative voltage-drop modeling; they do not authorize operating cable above its temperature rating. Verify the actual cable data.

Reference current screens are 15A / 20A / 30A / 40A for 14 / 12 / 10 / 8AWG. These are screening ceilings, not an ampacity determination or approval of protection. Cable, connector and terminal ratings, temperature, grouping, installation method and overcurrent protection must be verified separately.

Published secondary breaker limits used: 4A / 6A / 10A for 60 / 100 / 150VA units, and 21A per 300VA COM. The 300VA COM design target is 240VA. Equipment markings and tap-specific restrictions can impose lower limits. This planner does not model mixed taps within a COM, interconnected circuits, shared home-run trunks, loops, mixed-fixture runs, or unentered loads.

Confirm the primary branch circuit, continuous-load requirements, GFCI protection, bonding, separation, wet-location connections, burial / routing, and pool / spa clearances for the installation with the responsible electrician and authority having jurisdiction. Do not parallel COMs or transformers.
